THE SMALL GESTURES THAT MAKE THE DIFFERENCE

The one who decides to help those who are in needy he/she chose to do the right thing and he/she turned to be a clear sign of the "paternal care of divine Providence for all his children". O how it is beautiful and fulfilling the experience of spendingone’s own energy forthe sake of others, for some Cause! In this truth lays the key to a "new Civilization".  It leads us to the biblical experience in which Jesus, in his commitment with the reality, uses gestures of kindness and compassion to reveal the loving care of God. These gestures of Him made all the difference in the lives of many people. Before the question “who is this Jesus?” The answer was given as long as the people made a step to encounter him, accepting his message and engaging with the Project that he had announced through his supportive practice. Those who lived on the fringes of society and were reintegrated on it, didn’t take long time to realize that the that Jesus was the full revelator of the salvific and universal God’s plan. After all, as it is known, "Jesus didn’t come to bring a new religion but a good news for those who need liberation. From the good news we understand who God is". In fact it is from the gestures that the person reveals who he/she really is.

We are invited to do experience of the companion God who walks beside us and is present in the daily of our struggles, expecting a reply always new of acceptance and solidarity: the acceptance of his presence and solidarity with others. The God in whom we trust liberates and saves. Therefore, the reason of our hope is his fidelity. The biblical experience teaches us that He let himself to be touch before so many evils in relating to the life of the people, especially if they are most deprived. God loves all, but if we can say that He has preference, we dare to say that they have name such as: blind, lame, paralyzed, deaf, etc. In our days, they have other faces: they are the victims of hunger and poverty, those who remain at the margins of the capitalist system, the illiterate of the computerized world, the victims of every kind of violence and drugs, those who are homeless, the unemployed and the countless faces disfigured of this world. For these people there is a special love from God. About this the theologian L. C. Susin uses the expression “love with priority”: “Loving with priority is what a mother does, according to an ancient Arab proverb: she prefers the sick until he becomes healthy, she prefers the one who is far until he arrives, she prefers the smaller until he grows (...)".

The mission of Jesus consisted in establishing a new relationship with God and among the people. The most deprived people in the time of Jesus could return to the socializing with the other more confident and secure, and they could contribute with full capacity for the good of the community. Sometimes it was necessary a greater effort from the community to make them to come before Jesus and to experience the new life that he brought. Nowadays Jesus can no longer be seen, but can be felt and experienced, especially through those who have decided to leave to be onlookers and became protagonists of actions in favor of the life. The challenge for us is not in the achievement of extraordinary things, but of small gestures that really make the difference. From the example of Jesus, we are called to do all things well and to do good in favor of those who need it most and live on the margin of our conviviality. In this process, it is going to fulfill the prophecy of the kingdom of God: a world without marginalized, desire of God and expectation of all.
